Repair Café

Mending broken items to save them from landfill and reduce the environmental cost of manufacturing, shipping and buying something new.

Come and join us for repairs in Wells

What a success the Repair Cafés in Wells have been over a number of years!

The events are not only a chance to meet and chat over a cup of tea or coffee, and a delicious piece of cake, but also the opportunity to bring along an item that needs fixing. Our fixers have a go at repairing most things brought along on the spot with you watching to learn the skills.

10am - 12.30pm at St Thomas’ Church Hall, Wells, BA5 2UZ

Dates for 2024: 30th March, 25th May, 27th July, 28th September, 30th November

And now we’re in the Library too!

Our repairers are now at the Library every other Saturday. There isn’t a café but we’re sure that won’t put you off! Pop along and see us there and make use of the library while you’re there.

And all this for a donation to Repair Café. For more info contact us at sustwells@gmail.com

The UK generated 222.2 million tonnes of total waste in 2018, with England responsible for 84% of the UK total.

The recycling rate for Waste From Households (WfH) decreased in 2020 to 44.0% - the lowest in five years.

‘It is just a lovely feeling to know that, by facilitating these repairs, we are contributing to limiting and discouraging waste. And if  in the process we also have the opportunity to make a connection with our local community, talking to like-minded people and enjoying a slice of home-made cake... surely everyone is a winner!’ - Marcella, Volunteer
