At Sustainable Wells we’re always looking for volunteers. Take a look below for different ways to help.

Freecycle

A Freecycle event is very much appreciated by everyone who uses it, but it can only take place if we have a regular team of volunteers to carry out the various tasks. These include:

  • preparing the car park beforehand

  • showing people to parking spaces

  • making sure our one-way safety system is observed

  • taking photos

  • making sure the unpacking of ‘treasures’ goes smoothly

  • dealing with any problems which may arise and generally liaising with the public

  • putting up posters in your workplace, community space, shops and cafés

  • sharing the event when you see it on Facebook

If that sounds like you please contact sustwells@gmail.com and do let us know if you want to volunteer and if there’s a particular task that takes your fancy.

Fresh and Good

are community cooks that get together to prepare food for local events, including the Repair Cafés held in St Thomas's Church Hall.

We are always keen to welcome new cake cooks, veg choppers, tea brewers, soup whizzers, dough kneaders and washer-uppers to our gang.

If that sounds like you please contact sustwells@gmail.com

Make and Mend

Just come along on the Make and Mend sessions and join in the love of crafting, you can always offer to share some know-how of something you enjoy doing - knitting, mending, crochet, peg looms, sewing….need we say more?

Or you could join us for a Make and Mend Planning Group:  four of us meet occasionally (once every 3 months or so) over a cup of tea (and oft times a bit of cake) to think of things we might want to do.

If that sounds like you please contact sustwells@gmail.com and do let us know if you want to volunteer and if there’s a particular task that takes your fancy.

Repair Café and Repair Saturday at the library

We are always on the look-out for more repairers - whether it’s for the established Repair Café at St Thomas’s or the newer Repair Saturday at the library.

If you feel you have a repair skills which would be useful please get in touch with Amanda for a chat about it.

Amanda can be contacted on repaircafe.wells@gmail.com

Tor Hill Lane

We have occasional voluntary opportunities, say two or three times a year,  to do the following:

Scything - experienced scythers only.
Let us know if you are interested in becoming part of the scything team and wish to be trained.
Raking - no experience required
Litter picking - no experience required
All equipment provided.

If that sounds like you please contact sustwells@gmail.com and do let us know if you want to volunteer and if there’s a particular task that takes your fancy.

We always love to hear about observed wildlife in the area and would be grateful if you could let us know of  any interesting sightings
